John Muir Building

For more than 20 years our building was the home of John Muir Publications, the book publishing company. (The building was originally constructed in the 1920s to house the Nuckoll’s Packing Company.)

A Santa Fe institution for more than 30 years, John Muir Publications grew to become the largest book publishing company in New Mexico.

With a full time staff of 30 people while also employing more than 25 contract editors, illustrators, and production specialists, John Muir Publications became one of Santa Fe’s largest small business employers and the Railyard’s longest-standing tenant.

The John Muir building at 430 West Manhattan Avenue currently is home to three individual artists as well the Jo Basiste studio, where Jo works on his own art and hosts etching and drawing groups. RexRay Vision computer services is also an important tenant.

Once renovated, we hope the building will become the home of a non-profit organization or other arts and culturally oriented organization.
