Mona & Louis Smith

The Welder’s Supply Building is owned by Mona and Louis Smith. Mona operates a wholesale cut-flower business in part of the building, something she has been engaged with, in some form or other, since her arrival in Santa Fe twenty years ago from her native Holland.

Currently she is supplying La Montanita Coop and Kaune’s Foodtown daily with handmade bouquets and single stem flowers shipped in from growers on the West Coast. She also offers subscription arrangements, a weekly delivery of flowers arranged in a vase, for restaurants and reception desks of several prominent businesses in Santa Fe.

Louis is the owner of Woodsmith Construction Company and has been a resident of Santa Fe for the past thirty years since moving from Albuquerque. Mona and Louis have worked and lived for a number of years in the Guadalupe Street Area and has watched the neighborhood develop into a bustling part of town from the sleepy warehouse district it once was. He did custom woodwork and built cabinets in a shop in the Sanbusco Building in the early eighties, and made furniture for Dennis McMillan in the late seventies in the area.

Both are grateful and excited to be part of the next phase of the development of the Railyard and are looking forward to contributing to the future of the area.
